It’s important to note that these symptoms may be caused by a variety of factors, and it’s always a good idea to consult with our chiropractor in about your symptoms.
What is TMD/TMJ?
Chiropractic care is a form of alternative medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular disorders, including temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. Chiropractors use a variety of techniques, including spinal manipulation and adjustments, to help alleviate pain and improve function in the body.
One of the main ways that chiropractic care can help treat TMD and TMJ disorders is by addressing any misalignments or imbalances in the jaw, neck, and spine. These imbalances can put added strain on the jaw joint and surrounding muscles, leading to pain and discomfort. By correcting these imbalances, chiropractors can help relieve pressure on the jaw and reduce TMD and TMJ symptoms.
Another way that chiropractic care can help treat TMD and TMJ disorders is by reducing muscle tension and improving range of motion in the jaw. Chiropractors may use techniques such as massage, stretches, and exercises to relax and stretch the muscles around the jaw, helping to alleviate pain and improve function.
It’s important to note that TMD and TMJ disorders can be complex conditions, and treatment may vary depending on the underlying cause of the disorder and the severity of the symptoms.
Stretches & Exercises to Help with TMD/TMJ
Here are some stretches and exercises that may help alleviate pain and improve function in individuals with temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders:
Jaw stretches: Gently open your mouth as wide as you can and hold for a few seconds. Repeat several times. You can also try placing a finger on your chin and gently pushing down while resisting with your jaw muscles.
Neck stretches: Tilt your head to one side, bringing your ear towards your shoulder. Hold for a few seconds, then slowly return to the starting position. Repeat on the other side. You can also try tilting your head back and looking towards the ceiling, or tilting your head to one side and looking towards your armpit.
Lip stretch: Puckering your lips as if you’re kissing the air can help stretch the muscles in your jaw and lips. Hold for a few seconds, then relax. Repeat several times.
Tongue stretch: Stick out your tongue as far as you can and hold for a few seconds. Repeat several times.
Jaw relaxation: Place a finger on your cheekbone near your ear and gently massage in a circular motion. You can also try placing a warm washcloth over your cheekbones and temples and massaging in a circular motion.
Jaw strengthening: Place a small object between your teeth and gently bite down, holding for a few seconds. You can also try gently biting down on a washcloth or piece of gauze to help strengthen the muscles in your jaw.

Their team is GREAT. I've been a high end performer all my life, so I know a thing or 2 about physical therapy after injury. They WILL get you better.<br>Both chiropractors are gentle and have nice bedside manners.<br>Amanda and Sarah, the massage therapists, are beyond amazing. Life changing and exceptional skills.<br>Very friendly staff and dedicated staff, and they do their best to make it work with your schedule.<br>Not too busy, very conveniently located and accessible, relax setting. (and the electro therapy room screen might be AI scenery, but you just wanna go and spend a 3 weeks vacation in every one of these fictional places. I even look forward to the different one every week!)<br>And also they offer dry needling, which is, in my humble opinion and experience, exceptionally efficient for post -traumatic recovery.
Dr. Minter and his staff do a great job of listening to their patients needs as well as explaining treatments and course of action. They care about the patient and are always there to answer questions or concerns. I recommend them to you if you have any pain or discomfort.
Everybody here is great. From reception desk to Doctor Peters. Clean office, nice waiting room and pre-visit area. Schedules fill up quickly so don’t hesitate to use them.<br>Only part that wasn’t great was 20+ pages of paperwork to fill out as new patient.
The office always smells clean and the staff is everything wonderful and complete love bugs . Especially after this second accident I asked attorney to please send me back to this clinic for treatment because you really need your quality of life back , the whole team here help you achieve that .
I absolutely love this place! Very efficient and knowledgeable. They listen to the patient. The trifecta is Ruby front desk , Dr. Meyers and Sheryl the therapist!
I had been going to ASR for about six months after an accident left me with a messed up shoulder. I had done multiple shots and visited the chiropractor but didn’t get any relief until I started working with Dr. Chad Colby. After a few months, I wasn’t improving and the pain made every day life pretty rough. Dr. Colby not only listened to my concerns but we came up with a plan that ultimately lead me to have the relief I needed and helped with my recovery and mobility. He has amazing bedside manner (this is so important) and a great touch for dry needling. The staff here is also great. All the assistants that worked me listened and paid attention to where I was at on a day to day basis and we adjusted when needed. Overall, I just can’t say enough good things about Dr. Colby and his team. Even the other doctors I never met with were always very nice and welcoming. I’m sad to go but oh so thankful for getting on the road to feeling like myself again. If you need PT and have a choice, it’s a no brainer here - Dr. Colby. Thank you so very much.
I was in a accident this year and was recommended by my attorney at this location. My first impression was everyone from the doctors, front desk, massage therapist were very friendly and professional at all times. The doctor’s that have seen me were very knowledgeable and professional about their specialty and answered my questions to my satisfaction. The entire area also were very clean and tidy. I stuck with my physical therapy and got the results I wanted by sticking to it. Sorry if I dont know all your names but thank you so much! It was a pleasure to work with you all. You made my Physical therapy very fun and enjoyable to attend. God bless🙏🏽
Dr Trenton Minter and Rheanne are the best. They have helped me tons with my lower back pain. Very easy to schedule and be seen. Always listens and cares!
This business has the atmosphere of healing. Rheanne was absolutely amazing as well as the chiropractor! Very informative, very professional, and amazingly pleasant. I got an xray and an adjustment, I’ll be coming back for sure! Recommend 100%
Trenton is absolutely wonderful! He doesn’t just treat symptoms—he listens, cares, and makes sure you feel comfortable every step of the way. He always works with so much compassion, and I can honestly say I leave every appointment feeling better. If you’re looking for a chiropractor who truly cares about his patients, Trenton is the one!
I have been receiving therapy from this facility for a while now and I would highly recommend this office to anyone. The staff is friendly and helpful. The office staff is very friendly and courteous, putting the patients at ease upon entering the office.<br>Dr. Fiske and Dr. Watkins are thorough in their assessments and treatments, no matter who the patient is. They are courteous and professional in the manner with which they interact and treat all of their patients.
We have been going to the Summerlin location since we retired to Las Vegas. The husband and I have been very satisfied with the customer service and the doctors there.<br>Since Dr. Blanchard now works out of the South office, we have been seeing Dr. Parker G. He is great, very attentive and explains everything well.
I am so impressed with the Staff, Therapists and Doctors with Advanced Spine and Rehabilitation. From excellent Customer Service to their knowledge and expertise. I couldn’t be happier. Since they’ve taken me “under their wing” their care has been outstanding and comforting. Thank you!
